Buying a cell phone online

One good thing about cell phones is that, if you choose right, it can come with all the best possible features, at a very reasonable price. Here are features to consider when buying a cell phone:

  • Battery life
Opt for phones with strong battery life. Settle for a cell phone with at least three hours of continuous talk time and five days standby time.

  • Call quality
Ask questions about the call quality of a cell phone brand before you buy it. Since call quality may be subject to lots of other factors such as network performance and weather condition, it is recommended that you buy a handset with good volume.

  • Phone book capacity
You need to consider the number of contacts you will be able to store on your phonebook. Opt for phones that can store up to 500 contacts on the phonebook.

  • Voice dialing
This feature allows you make calls without using the keypad, which is particularly handy when you are on headset.

  • Messaging facility
You do not need a phone that can send only text messages. Instant messaging and e-mails also allow quick communication without making a phone call. Choose a phone that supports all (text messaging, instant messaging, and e-mail).

  • Camera
Even though a camera phone is no substitute for a real camera, it is becoming a must-have feature for stylish phone users. If you must, opt for a camera with a resolution that is more than one mega pixel, for better picture quality.

  • Speaker phones
A speakerphone is another useful tool for multitasking. You can do other chores while making that all-important call.

  • Conference calls
If you often set up impromptu meetings with clients and other interested third parties, who are miles apart, give phones that support conference calling a thought.

  • Wireless connectivity
If you opt for a phone without Bluetooth and infrared, you will not be able to enjoy wireless connectivity with PDAs, computers and headsets. Phones that have infrared port connect wirelessly with PDAs and computers, while Bluetooth connects you to a wireless headset.

  • Multi-media features
If you are music freak, go for cell phones that support voice recording, MP3, FM radio, video streaming and videoconferencing.
